The 10th annual Thunder Film Festival is a day of film, workshops, theater, live music, food, visual art and community conversations.
Films start at 7 p.m., featuring new shorts by Jonathan Thunder, Ajuawak Kapashesit, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, Bodhi Werner, Lee Clark Allen and Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College multimedia production students. Q & A with the filmmakers to follow.
The festival kicks off at 3 p.m. with a storytelling workshop. At 4 p.m., the FDLTCC players will debut a table reading of an original play by Jim Northrup, Shinnob Jep, an outrageously funny Jeopardy parody with a focus on Rez life. Lee Clark Allen will follow up his Homegrown premiere with a set of music at 5 p.m. A free community feast is offered at 6 p.m. in the Commons.
This year’s Thunder Film Fest will anchor the Carlton County Art Roundabout Tour. Original art work from the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College fine art students will be on display and for sale during the event.
