This introductory workshop offers practical hands-on training to prepare you for a career as a production assistant on a film or television set. Explore responsibilities, other positions and hierarchy, walkie-talkie and set etiquette and lingo, call sheet and sides creation, production paperwork, and more!

Trainees will be able to provide clerical and administrative duties to production departments such as understanding call sheets, organizing travel to locations, handling gear, making copies of scripts, maintaining schedules, and assisting and coordinating with all key departments on set.

Led by seasoned industry professionals, we will cover:

  • Hands-on training with walkie-talkies and surveillance mics.
  • All Production Paperwork.
  • Production Terminology.
  • Gear and Supplies.
  • How to pack and unload a production truck properly.
  • Set Protocol, i.e. “do’s and don’ts”.
  • Other crew departments function and interactions.
  • Office P.A. (including sides and revisions).
  • Staff P.A. Responsibilities.
  • Film and TV versus Commercials/Videos/Indies.
  • How to anticipate production needs.
  • Lock-ups, Shout outs, Daily & Wrap duties.
  • Where to find production jobs and navigate a career path.

Hosted at Lost Forty Studios, the schedule is as follows:

SATURDAY, 8/10: 9AM – 5:30PM

SUNDAY, 8/11: 9AM – 5:30PM
